The state open-air museum “Tsarskoye Selo” was presented with two plates from the famous Corbievskii service. The official representatives of the CCI of Pushkin and Pavlovsk in the USA Ron and Ludmila Mosher bought them at auction specially for the museum.
The service was purchased for the Imperial Court in the shop of Jerome Corbie in France and was named after the owner. In 1823 the service was sent to the porcelain storerooms of Tsarskoye Selo and used during grand feasts.
In 1823 the Imperial porcelain factory produced additional pieces for 150 settings. In 1842 the factory produced tea-set in addition to the service.
Nowadays the museum owns bottles, sauce boats, salad and butter dishes, saltcellars, oval dishes of different size, round dishes, 4 types of plates, single tea sets.
The Corbievskii service can be called the beloved and long-playing because it was used in Tsarskoye Selo more then 100 years. The parade ensemble is exhibited now in the Hermitage pavilion.
Nowadays in the state open-air museum “Tsarskoye Selo” is kept more than 200 pieces of this service. The history of the Corbievskii service is inextricably intertwined with Tsarskoye Selo.

A monument to Katherine II was erected in Zerbst
A delegation from the sister-city of Zerbst – Pushkin – took part in the unveiling of the first monument to the Russian Empress in Germany on 9 of July. Here in Zerbst a young princess spent her childhood. At the age of 15 she left Zerbst for Russia to become the Empress Katherine II.
A bronze monument 5 meters high was erected in the park near the old castle. A princess looks at her father’s castle, but in her thoughts she is in Russia. An author of the monument is a famous Moscow sculptor Michael Pereyaslavts.
A burgomaster of Zerbst Helmut Berendt called a monument to Katherine the Great “a cultural bridge between two countries”. A deputy head of Pushkin region of Saint-Petersburg Tatiana Bogolyubova noted that “a significant coincidence of two important events – a celebration of 300 anniversary of Tsarskoye Selo and an unveiling of the monument to the Russian Empress, born in Germany, is an ideal symbol of a centuries-old unity of Germany and Russia”.
This year a sister-citizenship of Pushkin and Zerbst will celebrate 15 years birthday.

Honorary foreign guests from France, Germany, Ireland, America and Belarus have also been forced to leave their ties in the hands of festive jokers.
Citizens and guests of the carnival were welcoming festive columns. Pink balloons and decorated cars made people delighting. Entertainment zones, such as a clowns’ village, an art street, a sport city, a knights’ camp and a dog carnival spot took place simultaneously in several places.
Contests of children’s and adults’ costumes have also become traditional for the carnival. The main prize - a pink car - was won by a twenty-year-old resident of Tsarskoye Selo. The jury has defined her costume – "Tsar - Bird" as the best.
A photo exhibition
We are glad to invite citizens and guests of Pushkin and Pavlovsk for
the photoexhibition by Kim Taminiau "Parallels and Contrasts; St. Petersburg and
Groningen: Two Northern Cities in Focus".
Already in the 18th century during the times of Peter the Great, many
Dutchmen from the Nothern provinces of the Dutch Republic were traveling to St Petersburg,
which at the time seemed to be an ideal place to visit. Although very different from
everybody life back then in the Dutch Republic, many Dutch citizens chose to remain in St.
Petersburg. The many Russian names of Dutch origin we can still find in the city, remind
us of this period. Mirroring this historic event, today there are many Russians living in
Groningen, in the north of Netherlands, integrated in Dutch society through either work or
studies and many with the intention to stay. Thus, perhaps life in the northern Russia and
the northern part of Netherlands is not so different after all.
Having visited St. Petersburg many times, the Dutch photographer Kim
Taniniau set out to explore similarities and deference’s between life in St. Petersburg
and Groningen through the lens of a camera. Co-founder of Chronoscoop Film &
Photography, Mrs. Taminiau now presents the results of comparative photography at the
photo exhibition in St. Petersburg.
The exhibition was from 16 of June to 23 of June in the former Dutch Church, Nevsky pr. 20.
IT-cluster laid its foundation in Pushkin.
A ground-breaking ceremony of HP and Foxonn PC plant took place on the 16th of May
2008. A volume of investments compiles $50 mln. A built up area on the first construction
stage covers 32 000 sq.m.
